Former Australia batter Stuart Law takes over as Nepal coach

Stuart Law, a former Australian cricketer, is the new head coach of Nepal’s men’s team. He signed a two-year contract, replacing Monty Desai, whose deal was not renewed by the Cricket Association of Nepal. Law recently coached the United States, leading them to the Super 8 stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Under his guidance, the US pulled off a major upset by beating Pakistan.
Law has experience coaching national teams like the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Before becoming a coach, he spent several years playing for the Australian national side, appearing in one Test and 54 ODIs. He also played domestic cricket for Queensland and English teams like Essex and Lancashire.
Nepal will compete against Scotland and the Netherlands in June as part of the World Cup League 2 qualifiers for the 2027 Cricket World Cup. In October, they will try to qualify for the 2026 T20 World Cup, as they finished last with just one point at the 2024 edition.
