It was the last thing one would have expected going into the first semi-final of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup between India and New Zealand. The Indians were cruising at one stage, having managed to restrict the Kiwis to just 211/5 by the 47th over, when the clouds opened up in Manchester, bringing an unexpected halt to the match.
Ross Taylor was 67 not out along with Tom Latham (3), when rain worsened sufficiently for the umpires to take the players off the field with 23 balls remaining in the innings.
