Following their third loss in five World Cup games, a frustrated fan has filed a petition in the Gujranwala Civil Court to ban the Pakistan cricket team as well as their selection committee.

With just three points after one victory and three defeats, Pakistan acquire the penultimate spot of the table and have found themselves in the midst of heavy criticism from the fans and the media alike. And responding to their performances, the fan – whose name hasn’t been revealed – has appealed to impose a ban on the team, and the chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq-led selection committee.

Acting to it, the judge at the Gujranwala Civil Court has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to react to it.

Moreover, PCB, after meeting on Wednesday on Lahore, will be expected to make a major overhaul which also includes the consideration of team management and selectors. As per a report from London, head coach Mickey Arthur’s contract won’t be renewed after it runs out. Furthermore, the likes of Tala Ali (team manager) and Azhar Mahmood (bowling coach) are also expected to let go.

Despite enduring a poor run, Pakistan’s current run is a reminiscence of that of their 1992 World Cup triumph where the team lost three, won one and were at the receiving end of one washout fixture. That team, led by their current Prime Minister Imran Khan, went on to win the coveted trophy by defeating England in the final.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s next test lies in front of South Africa on June 23 at Lord’s which can well and truly be termed as a must-win game for both the teams.
