One of the shining stars of women’s cricket, England wicket-keeper Sarah Taylor had a surprise in store for all on Tuesday. She took to her Instagram account to post a picture of her wearing nothing but her wicket-keeping gloves in an attempt to spread awareness about mental and physical health amongst females.
The 30-year-old cricketer has had an unfortunate history with mental illness over the years, due to which she had taken a break from the sport internationally on more than one occasion, with the most recent being the 2019 Women’s Ashes.
The campaign, a part of the Women’s Health magazine, got Taylor on board as she is a victim of anxiety and stress herself and will stand as a symbol for every female out there suffering from the same illness.
In her Instagram post, she did mention that baring it all was something she was not comfortable with, but it felt powerful. Here’ what she posted:
Caption: “Anyone that knows me will know that this is a little out of my comfort zone, but I’m so proud of myself and grateful to @womenshealthuk for inviting me to be a part of this issue. I’ve always had issues with my body and I had to get over a few in order to do this and it was completely empowering. Every other girl looks stunning! Please remember EVERY woman is BEAUTIFUL. Thank you to everyone involved!”
One of the leading wicket-keepers in the women’s game, Taylor has played 226 matches over the three formats for England and has amassed more than 6500 runs in international cricket.
