The England cricket team are all set to resume cricketing action when they host West Indies in a three-match Test series, starting on Wednesday, July 10.

Ranked second in the ICC Men’s Test team rankings, England will fancy their chances against eighth place West Indies in front of their home crowd.

Under the captaincy of all-rounder Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum, England have announced a strong 14-member squad to face the Windies.

Pace legend James Anderson will be making his final appearance for England in the opening Test of the series. However, he will continue to remain with the squad even after retiring as a bowling mentor for the team.

Meanwhile, Jamie Smith could make his England debut in international as he’s the only specialist gloveman in the squad although Ollie Pope, who will be a part of the playing XI has kept wickets for the Three Lions in the past.

West Indies, on the other hand, will be led by skipper Kraigg Brathwaite. The likes of Jason Holder and Jayden Seales return to the Windies’ Test fold while uncapped batter Mikyle Louis is also a part of the tourists’ contingent.

While the first match of the series will be held at Lord’s, the second will take place at Nottingham and the final game will happen at Birmingham.

As far as the head-to-head between these teams in Tests are concerned, West Indies boast a slight edge having won 59 of the 163 encounters between the sides.

England have 51 Tests against West Indies, while as many as 53 matches between these teams have ended in draws.
