Led by new white-ball captain Jos Buttler, the England cricket team thrashed India by 100 runs in the second ODI at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Thursday to level the three-match series 1-1.
Put into bat, England rode on Moeen Ali’s 47 off 64 balls and David Willey’s 49-ball 41 to post 246 before being bowled out in 49 overs.
Chasing a below-par target of 247, India lost wickets at regular intervals as they were bundled out for 146 in 38.5 overs. England left-arm fast bowler Reece Topley was the wrecker-in-chief for the hosts as he picked six wickets for 24 runs in his 9.5 overs that he bowled.
England have been in impressive form in the 50-over format, winning four of their last five matches.
On the other hand, India started the ODI series in an emphatic fashion as they thrashed England by 10 wickets at The Oval on Tuesday. After England were skittled out for 110, India’s opening duo of Rohit Sharma (76) and Shikhar Dhawan (31) chased down the target in 18.4 overs.
Like England, the Men in Blue have also registered four wins and one defeat in their last five ODI matches.
