The Ekana Cricket Stadium situated in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, is the fifth largest cricket venue in India, with a seating capacity of 50,000.

Built in 2017, the state government renamed the arena to Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in 2018. 

One of the state-of-the-art sporting facilities in India, the Ekana Cricket Stadium is also home to Indian T20 League team Lucknow. The stadium hosts the women’s T20 league matches as well.  

Since acquiring international status, the stadium has hosted multiple ODI and T20 matches. The first ODI at this stadium was played between Afghanistan and West Indies in 2019. The Windies won the game by seven wickets.

The Ekana Cricket Stadium is one of 10 venues to host the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. This stadium has been allotted five matches, including the India vs England encounter.

Highest team total

South Africa holds the record for the highest team total at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in ODI cricket. The Proteas achieved the feat against Australia in match 10 of the 2023 World Cup. Electing to field first, the Australia national cricket team was on the back foot as South Africa went on to post 311/7 with the help of a Quinton de Kock century. In reply, Australia could only manage 177 before being skittled out as South Africa registered a 134-run win after setting the highest-ever ODI total at the venue.

Lowest team total

The record for the lowest team total at this venue in ODI cricket belongs to England after they could manage just 129 against India in match 29 of the 2023 World Cup. After being asked to bat first, India went on to post 229/9 after a Rohit Sharma 87 and useful contributions from KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav. In reply, England managed to score 129 as India's pacers led by Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah dismantled the English batting line-up to help register a 100-run win.

Most runs

West Indies batter Shai Hope holds the record for most runs at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in ODI cricket. The Windies opener has scored 229 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 64.50. The right-handed batter has one century and a half-century to his name at this arena. His highest individual score is 109 which he scored against Afghanistan in 2019. 

Most wickets 

Dilshan Madushanka of Sri Lanka tops the list for most wickets at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in ODI cricket. The pacer has scalped seven wickets in two matches at an average of 12.42 at this venue. He has best figures of 4/49 with an impressive economy of 4.66. Both of Madushanka's matches at this venue came during the 2023 World Cup in India.

Highest individual score

West Indies’ Shai Hope holds the record for the highest individual score at this venue. The right-handed batter tops the list, having scored a 145-ball 109 not out against Afghanistan in 2019. Shai Hope’s innings was laced with three sixes and eight fours. The knock came in his team’s winning cause and helped the Caribbean side register a clean sweep in a three-match series.

Best bowling figures

India's Mohammed Shami has the best bowling figures in ODIs to his name at this venue. The right-arm pacer scalped 4/22 against England in match 29 of the 2023 World Cup. He registered this feat in India’s 100-run win over England as he blew away the opposition bowlers with an incredible spell of swing bowling. 

Highest partnership

West Indies pair of Shai Hope and Roston Chase hold the record for the highest partnership at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in ODI cricket. The Windies duo stitched a partnership of 163 runs for the third-wicket against Afghanistan in 2019. They helped their team post a score of 197/3 in response to Afghanistan’s 194 to register a seven-wicket win as Hope remained unbeaten on 77, while Chase scored 94.
