Cricket Australia and their kit manufacturers ASICS have unveiled their jersey for the World Cup 2019, to be held in England and Wales.
The defending champions have opted to go all retro, combining the colour scheme of their traditional yellow and lime-green. The former features dominantly over the front while the latter covers the side, the collar and the sleeves. The World Cup badge is imprinted on the right side of the kit, while the manufacturer’s logo takes a spot on the sleeve.
As far as the pants are concerned, the green scheme runs on a slightly thin pattern on the side.
Australia, who are the five-time World Champions having won the coveted trophy in 1987,1999,2003,2007 and 2015, donned a kit of similar colourway during their ODI-series against India, which was played at the land down under.
The World Cup kit, on the other hand, has been picked through a fan-voted competition, which led to the 1999 World Cup kit being selected ahead of seven other uniforms.
Australia are heading into the World Cup on the back of their ODI series win over India and Pakistan. Aaron Finch’s men defeated India 3-2 at their home turf after losing their opening two ODIs. The Pakistan series was an outright 5-0 whitewash.
The World Cup kicks off from May 30 and Australia, on their part, begin their defending campaign against Afghanistan on June 1. Prior to that though, Finch’s men will play two warm-up fixtures against England and Sri Lanka on May 25 and May 27 respectively.
