There are several cricketers who have pulled out some extraordinary performances on the field despite their age. Recently, Chris Gayle and Lasith Malinga amazed everyone with their performances proving that age is just a number for them. In the same way, Kent player Darren Stevens did something that no one else has done at his age.

Stevens scored 237 runs in 225 balls and took five wickets for 20 runs against Yorkshire County to become the second oldest player after WG Grace (46 years and 303 days) to take a five-for and score a double century in the same match of first-class cricket. The Kent player was 43 years and 132 days old when he achieved this feat.

His double century in the first innings helped Kent score 482 for 8 (dec) to which Yorkshire could only manage 269 in reply. Kent again crossed the three hundred run mark in the second innings when captain Sam Billings scored an unbeaten 122 to declare the innings at 337 for 7. When Yorkshire came in to bat in the second innings, they faced problems against Stevens again but this time with the ball in his hands, as he sent half of their team back to pavilion. Kent won the match by 433 runs.

In the previous game against Nottinghamshire, Stevens took 10 wickets to prove his bowling abilities before he smashed the double century at Headingley.

This was Kent’s biggest victory in terms of runs in their first-class history and Yorkshire's heaviest runs defeat.
