The Asian Games 2023 Women’s T20I event will start on September 19 and conclude on September 25 in Hangzhou, China.

As many as eight women’s teams will compete for the coveted gold medal at the upcoming Asian Games 2023.

Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will compete in the women’s T20 cricket event at Hangzhou 2023.

Meanwhile, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have directly qualified for the quarter-finals based on their ICC Women’s T20I Rankings as of June 1, 2023.

Indonesia will face Mongolia in the Asian Games 2023 Women’s T20I opener, while Hong Kong will clash with Malaysia in the second game on September 19.

All matches will be played at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou.

Harmanpreet Kaur will captain the Indian women’s cricket team while Smriti Mandhana has been named the vice-captain for Asiad 2023

Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh and Rajeshwari Gayakwad are some of the notable names that have been included in the 15-member Indian women’s squad.

Harleen Deol, Kashvee Gautam, Sneh Rana, Saika Ishaque and Pooja Vastrakar are the five stand-by players announced for the women’s cricket tournament at Asian Games 2023.

Earlier, the Indian women’s cricket team made their debut in a multi-sport event at the Commonwealth Games 2022 held in Birmingham, England. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side bagged silver after losing to Australia in the final.

Cricket will return to the Asian Games after nine long years. It was previously played at Asiad twice before at Guangzhou 2010 and Incheon 2014. 

Pakistan won both the women’s events in 2010 and 2014.
