Indian T20 League squad Delhi announced on Tuesday that South African quick Anrich Nortje will be replacing England's Chris Woakes in their line-up for the upcoming 2020 season in the UAE.
The Capitals had bought Woakes for $200,000 in the December 2019 auction but family commitments forced Woakes to withdraw back in March.
The addition of Nortje to the squad means there are now two South Africans in the team including Kagiso Rabada.
"I am excited to join the Delhi, a team that was the talk of the tournament last season," said the 26-year-old.
"With its exciting mix of experienced and young players and a stellar coaching line-up, there is no doubt this is going to be a massive learning experience for me."
Cricket South Africa's newcomer of the year Nortje had his Indian T20 League debut with the Kolkata Knight Riders last season cut short by a shoulder injury.
