The Afghanistan vs Pakistan ODIs 2023 will start on August 22 and run till August 26 in Sri Lanka.
Just before Asia Cup 2023, Afghanistan is all set to host Pakistan for a three-match ODI series across five days in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan are currently second in the ICC ODI rankings, while Afghanistan are eighth.
The first two games will be played in Hambantota on August 22 and 24, while the final ODI will take place in Colombo on August 26.
Afghanistan and Pakistan have only met each other four times in ODIs, with the latter winning on all occasions. Both sides will travel to Pakistan after the series, with the Asia Cup opener in Multan between Pakistan and Nepal taking place on August 30.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board has named an 18-member squad for the upcoming series, which will be taking place prior to the Asia Cup, and later, the 2023 Men's ODI World Cup in India.
The Afghans have included Noor Ahmad, who was phenomenal in the Indian T20 League 2023. Fast bowlers Mohammad Saleem Safi and Wafadar Momand also retain their spots in the squad.
Meanwhile, Inzamam-ul-Haq, the head of the Pakistan men’s selection committee, announced the Men in Green’s squad for the ODIs. Tayyab Tahir, Faheem Ashraf and Saud Shakeel are some of the fresh faces in the side.
The three-match series will be crucial for both sides before they embark on the two biggest tournaments of the year in September and October.
