Afghanistan will lock horns with Nepal in their final ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024 Group B match at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, December 3.

Led by captain Mahboob Khan, the Afghanistan U19 cricket team will look to return to winning ways after they lost to Sri Lanka by 131 runs in their previous Group B fixture in Sharjah on Sunday.

Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka rode on wicketkeeper-batter Sharujan Shanmuganathan’s scintillating hundred (102) to post 243/7 in their 50 overs.

Young off-spinner AM Ghazanfar was the standout bowler for Afghanistan with figures of 3/35 in his quota of 10 overs.

In reply, Afghanistan lost wickets at regular intervals as they were bowled out for 112 in 28.2 overs.

Earlier, Afghanistan began their ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024 campaign with a 45-run loss against defending champions Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.

The Nepal U19 cricket team will also look to bounce back after succumbing to a five-wicket loss against Bangladesh in their previous group encounter at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai on Sunday.

Put in to bat, Nepal were bundled out for 141 in 45.4 overs against reigning champions Bangladesh. Nepal opening batter Aakash Tripathi scored 43 off 77 balls while Abhisekh Tiwari and wicketkeeper-batter Uttam Magar contributed with 29 each.

Later, Zawad Abrar (59) and captain Md Azizul Hakim Tamin (52*) slammed fifties to guide Bangladesh to a comprehensive win.

The Hemant Dhami-led Nepal earlier suffered a 55-run defeat against Sri Lanka in their ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024 opener.

Having lost both their matches in the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024, Nepal and Bangladesh have been knocked out of the tournament and will aim to end their campaign on a high on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have won both their matches in Group B and have advanced to the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024 semi-finals.

Hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE), Pakistan, India and Japan compete for the other two semi-final spots from Group A.
