The Afghanistan vs Ireland ODI series, which will have three matches played over six days, will begin from January 21, Thursday, at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
The series will be played in accordance with the ICC Men’s World Cup Super League series, with all matches played at one venue.
The Afghanistan-Ireland ODI series marks Afghanistan’s first cricket assignment since March, while Ireland comes into the series after sharing the spoils with UAE in the recent ODI series. Watch Afghanistan vs Ireland on live streaming in India.
Earlier, Cricket Ireland agreed to move the dates of their three ODIs against Afghanistan after the UAE government temporarily suspended visas for nationals of 13 countries in November for COVID-related reasons.
Richard Holdsworth, High-Performance Director for Cricket Ireland, revealed in a statement, “We were pleased to accommodate the Afghanistan Cricket Board's request for a slight extension of the tour understanding that the delayed arrival time of the Afghan side, combined with their quarantine requirements meant that the previous schedule could not be achieved.
“We are pleased that after discussions over recent days, an agreement was reached on keeping the series in Abu Dhabi after the Afghanistan squad's visas came through,” he added.
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman - who were involved in the 2021 Big Bash League season - will fly to Abu Dhabi and join the rest of the team for the three-match ODI series.
