The Afghanistan vs Bangladesh ODI 2024 series will start in Sharjah on Wednesday, November 6.
As per the Afghanistan vs Bangladesh ODI 2024 schedule, all three matches of the upcoming 50-over series will be played at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Bangladesh are currently ranked eighth in the ICC men’s ODI team rankings while Afghanistan are placed one place below on ninth spot.
The Afghanistan national cricket team will head into the three-match ODI series brimming with confidence after they scripted history by registering their first-ever ODI series win over South Africa in September. Under the leadership of Hashmatullah Shahidi, Afghanistan won the three-match ODI series 2-1 against the Proteas at the same venue in Sharjah.
Hashmatullah Shahidi will once again lead Afghanistan in the UAE. However, the hosts will miss the services of a few of their key players due to injuries.
Star opening batter Ibrahim Zadran will be unavailable as he is recovering from an ankle surgery while off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman has been ruled out of the series due to a finger injury.
Southpaw Sediqullah Atal has been included in place of Ibrahim Zadran while Noor Ahmad has been added in the squad to strengthen their spin department.
On the other hand, the Bangladesh national cricket team has also announced their ODI squad for the UAE tour to be led by Nazmul Hossain Shanto.
Nazmul Hossain Shanto has been named the skipper despite his reluctance to continue as Bangladesh’s all-format captain.
Nahid Rana, the 22-year-old fast bowler, is the only uncapped player included in the ODI squad.
Opening batter Zakir Hasan and left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed have been recalled to the squad.
The visitors will miss the services of their wicketkeeper-batter Litton Kumar Das, who is still recovering from fever.
Pacers Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Hasan Mahmud have been ruled out due to injuries.

The last time these two sides met in the 50-over format, Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by five wickets in an ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 clash in Dharamsala in October last year.
