The inaugural edition of the ACC Women’s T20 Premier Cup 2024 will begin on February 10 and go on till February 18, hosted in Malaysia.
Organised by the Asian Cricket Council, this tournament is a part of the qualification process for the Women's T20 Asia Cup 2024, scheduled for later this year.
As many as 16 teams will be seen participating in the T20 tournament. The teams are divided into four groups featuring four teams each. Group A consists Kuwait, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand while China, Japan, Oman and UAE are in Group B.
Group C includes Bahrain, Indonesia, Malaysia and Qatar. Bhutan, Hong Kong, Maldives and Nepal form Group D.
Each side is set to play one match with each team in their respective groups in a single, round-robin format.
The top two teams from each group will then advance and play the quarter-finals before proceeding to the semi-finals and final. A total of 31 matches, including the final on February 18 will be played as part of ACC Women’s T20 Premier Cup 2024.
The winner and runner-up of the ACC Women’s T20 Premier Cup 2024 will compete in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024 alongside Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Furthermore, the ACC Women's Emerging Asia Cup 2025 will feature the top four semi-finalists from the inaugural ACC Women’s T20 Premier Cup as qualifiers.
The first match of the ACC Women's T20 Premier Cup 2024 will see Group A’s Thailand Women face Mynamar Women.
The T20 series opener will be played at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. The other three venues to be used for this tournament are YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi, Royal Selangor Club and Selangor Turf Club, both in Kuala Lumpur.
