The fifth season of the Abu Dhabi T10 2021 will start on Friday, November 19, when reigning champions Northern Warriors take on Delhi Bulls in the first of an explosive opening night doubleheader.
The six teams participating in the fifth season are Bangla Tigers, Deccan Gladiators, The Chennai Braves, Team Abu Dhabi, Delhi Bulls and Northern Warriors as cricket’s fastest format returns to the UAE with a mouth-watering opening match that takes place at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium from 6 PM local time.
England duo Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan will represent the current two-time champions in the tournament opener against a Delhi Bulls side that contains the likes of Dwayne Bravo and Eoin Morgan.
The second match on Day 1 pits home side Team Abu Dhabi against Bangla Tigers from 8 PM, with both teams looking to get off to the perfect start as they search for their first Abu Dhabi T10 title.
Team Abu Dhabi’s star-studded squad includes West Indies legend Chris Gayle and England superstar Liam Livingstone, while Bangla Tigers boast a team that features iconic Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, and former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis.
Day 2 (Saturday, November 20) kicks off from 4 PM and will be the first of four triple header Matchdays during the league stage as Yusuf Pathan will add his wealth of experience to The Chennai Braves team against a Deccan Gladiators outfit with Andre Russell in their ranks in the first match of the day.
In total, there will be 35 matches played across the 15 days of competition at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, with each team squaring off twice before the top four sides advance to the qualifiers on Friday, December 3.
From there, the teams in first and second place in the group stage will feature in a qualifier, with the winner advancing to the final. The losing team of that first qualifier will then get a second chance to reach the grand finale by facing the winner of the eliminator, which will feature the third and fourth-placed teams in the standings.
A third and fourth place playoff will get underway on Saturday, December 4 from 6 PM before the Abu Dhabi T10 2021 final starts at 8 PM to crown the new champion.
