Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium is a cricket venue in Dharamsala, India. It is the home ground of the Himachal Pradesh cricket team and the Indian cricket team.

With a capacity of 23,000, this venue is very picturesque with the backdrop of serene mountains.

It is surrounded by the snow-capped Dhauladhar mountains in the background which adds to the serenity of the venue.

Established in 2003, the cricket stadium hosted its first international game in 2013, when hosts India locked horns with England in an ODI which the Men in Blue lost by seven wickets.

It has also hosted a couple of Indian T20 League games in the 2023 season for the Punjab team. 

Interestingly, the venue is all set to host five games in the 2023 ODI World Cup, including India vs New Zealand.

Most runs

Former India captain Virat Kohli holds the record for scoring the most runs at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in ODI cricket. The Delhi-born batter has amassed 212 runs in three innings at an impressive average of 106.

The chase master has smacked a century and one fifty at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, with his highest score being 114-ball 127 runs against West Indies in 2014.  

Most wickets

Sri Lankan pacer Suranga Lakmal has the record for the most ODI wickets at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. The speedster scalped four wickets in an innings at an economy of 1.30. 

In 2017, Lakmal returned with 4/13 against India, making it the best ODI figures at the venue. 

Highest individual score

India batting legend Virat Kohli holds the record for registering the highest individual score at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. The right-handed batter smashed 127 off 114 balls during the fourth ODI of the West Indies tour of India in 2014.

Kohli’s match-winning knock included 13 fours and three towering sixes. The hosts won the game by 59 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match ODI series. 

Best bowling figures

Sri Lankan pacer Suranga Lakmal’s 4/13 against India is the best bowling figures recorded at this iconic venue in the ODI format. 

The lanky speedster picked up four wickets for 13 runs from his 10 overs in the first ODI of Sri Lanka’s tour of India in 2017. 

Lakmal’s brilliant spell helped the visitors win the game by seven wickets as they successfully restricted India to take a 1-0 lead in a three-match series.

Highest team total

India rode on half-centuries from Ajinkya Rahane (68), Suresh Raina (71) and a game-changing 127 from Virat Kohli to post a mammoth total of 330/6 against West Indies at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in 2014. 

It is the highest team total in ODIs at this venue and helped the hosts win the fourth ODI by 59 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match ODI series.

Lowest team total

In the first ODI of Sri Lanka’s tour of India in 2017, the Men in Blue were bundled out for 112 by the Lankans. A match-winning four-fer from Suranga Lakmal reduced the hosts to a below-par total.

This is the lowest team total in ODIs at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium and Sri Lanka went on to win the game by seven wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Highest partnership

India’s Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli added 138 runs for the third wicket against West Indies in the fourth ODI of the West Indies tour of India in 2014. 

This remains the only instance when a batting pair added 100 or more ODI runs together at the venue. India went on to post 330/6 and the hosts won the game by 59 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match ODI series.
