The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is a professional T20 cricket league played during July and August of every year in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Formed by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), the T20 tournament features eight teams representing eight districts in the Southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
The first edition of the tournament was inaugurated by former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni in 2016.
Tuti Patriots were the inaugural champions of TNPL, having thrashed Chepauk Super Gillies by 122 runs in the 2016 final.
Since the inception of TNPL in 2016, there have been five editions of the tournament played so far.
Defending champions Chepauk Super Gillies are the most successful franchise in Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), having won the title three times. Chepauk Super Gillies have won the TNPL title in 2017, 2019 and 2021.
Apart from Chepauk Super Gillies and Tuti Patriots, Siechem Madurai Panthers have won the title in 2018.

Tamil Nadu Premier League records and stats
Most runs: Chepauk Super Gillies’ Narayan Jagadeesan currently holds the record for most runs in TNPL. Jagadeesan has amassed 1240 runs across four seasons. He has also been adjudged the player of the tournament twice in 2016 and 2021.
Most wickets: Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore is currently the leading wicket-taker in TNPL. The left-arm spinner has picked 68 wickets, including 12 scalps for Chepauk Super Gillies in seven matches last season.
Highest total: Tuti Patriots posted the highest total in TNPL against Chepauk Super Gillies in 2016. Electing to bat first in the 2016 final, Tuti Patriots rode on Abhinav Mukund’s unbeaten 82 off 52 balls, Kaushik Gandhi’s 59 and captain Dinesh Karthik’s 26-ball 55 to post 215/2 in their allotted 20 overs. Chepauk Super Gillies were bundled out for 93 as the Patriots secured a 122-run victory to claim their maiden TNPL title.
Highest individual score: Baba Aparajith holds the record for the highest individual score in TNPL. Playing for Kanchi Veerans, Baba Aparajith smashed an unbeaten 118 off just 63 balls against Karaikudi Kaalai in 2016.
Best bowling figures: Ramadoss Alexander has the best bowling figures in TNPL. Chepauk Super Gillies left-arm spinner R Alexander bagged five wickets for just nine runs in his quota of four overs against Ruby Trichy Warriors in 2019.
