The Indian cricket team holds the record for the most wins in the Asia Cup.
Having featured in 13 editions of the Asia Cup between 1984 and 2018, India have won 36 of their 54 matches in the Asia Cup and have suffered just 16 defeats in the continental championship. India have played just one tied match while one encounter ended in no result.
India are the most successful team in the Asia Cup history, having won the coveted title seven times (six in ODIs and one in T20I).
The Men in Blue have clinched the Asia Cup in 1984, 1988, 1990-91, 1995, 2010, 2016 and 2018. The seven-time Asia Cup winners have a win percentage of 68.68 - the highest among all the teams in the tournament’s history.
Sri Lanka comes in close second for the most wins in the Asia Cup. The island nation has won 35 of their 54 matches in the Asia Cup. They have lost just 19 matches in the history of the continental championship.
Interestingly, Sri Lanka are the only team to feature in all the previous 14 editions of the Asia Cup. Sri Lanka are the second most decorated team in the Asia Cup, having claimed the trophy on five occasions in 1986, 1997, 2004, 2008 and 2014. They have a win percentage of 64.81 in Asia Cup history.
Pakistan cricket team features third on the list. Pakistan have won 28 of their 49 matches in the Asia Cup. They have suffered 20 defeats while one match ended in no result.
Pakistan have won the Asia Cup twice in 2000 and 2012. They have a win percentage of 58.33 - the third highest in Asia Cup history.
Bangladesh and Afghanistan complete the top five list. While Bangladesh have won 10 of their 48 matches, Afghanistan have secured five wins in 12 matches in the Asia Cup.
Bangladesh have been runners-up in the Asia Cup in 2012, 2016 and 2018 and have a win percentage of 20.83.
United Arab Emirates and Oman are the other two cricketing nations to register victories in the Asia Cup. UAE have won three of their 11 matches while Oman have managed a solitary victory from three games in the continental championship’s history.
