Zimbabwe cricketer Wessley Madhevere currently holds the record for claiming the most wickets in Under-19 World Cup.
Having featured in three editions of Under-19 World Cup between 2016 and 2020, Madhevere picked 28 wickets in 18 matches at an average of 18.50 and an economy of 3.94. The right-arm off-break bowler has the best bowling figures of 5 for 24 in the tournament.
Madhevere’s impressive performances in the Under-19 World Cups helped him bag a spot in the Zimbabwe senior cricket team in March 2020.
The second on the list for most wickets in Under-19 World Cup is Australia all-rounder Moises Henriques. The medium-pacer bagged 27 wickets in 13 matches at an economy of 3.58. Henriques represented the Australia Under-19 cricket team in two editions of the Under-19 World Cup in 2004 and 2006.
Ireland leg-break bowler Greg Thompson is third in the list with 27 scalps in 19 matches. Thompson played in three editions of the Under-19 World Cup in 2004, 2006 and 2008.
Abhishek Sharma is the only Indian to feature among the top bowlers with the most wickets in the Under-19 World Cup. Having represented India in the 2002 and 2004 editions of the tournament, the leg-break bowler picked 26 wickets in 14 matches at an economy of 3.84.
England cricketer Tim Bresnan completes the top five list for bowlers for most wickets in Under-19 World Cup. The medium-fast bowler bagged 25 wickets in 13 matches at an economy of 4.12 in the 2002 and 2004 editions of the tournament.
Nepal bowlers Rahul Vishwakarma, Paras Khadka and Papua New Guinea cricketer Raymond Haoda are some unknown faces who have had massive success in the Under-19 World Cup.
