Team Hyderabad holds the record for the most sixes in an innings in the Indian T20 League.

Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, Team Hyderabad bagged the record for the most sixes in an innings in the Indian T20 League after they hit 22 sixes twice during the 2024 edition of the tournament.

Team Hyderabad surpassed the record for the most sixes in an innings in the Indian T20 League against Team Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Put into bat, the visitors rode on Travis Head’s 41-ball 102 and wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen’s 67 off 31 balls to post a mammoth 287/3 in their 20 overs to register the highest total in Indian T20 League history.

Head’s blitzkrieg knock was laced with eight sixes while Klaasen hammered seven maximums.

The likes of Abdul Samad (3), Aiden Markram (2) and Abhishek Sharma (2) combined to record the most sixes in an innings in the Indian T20 League.

Their incredible batting performance helped Hyderabad beat hosts Bengaluru by 25 runs.

Later in the tournament, Team Hyderabad equalled the record for the most sixes in an innings in the Indian T20 League after they hit 22 maximums against Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in 2024.

Travis Head’s 89 off 32 balls, Abhishek Sharma’s 12-ball 46 and Shahbaz Ahmed’s unbeaten 59 off 29 balls powered Hyderabad to a huge total of 266/7 in their 20 overs.

Head slammed six sixes while Sharma clobbered six maximums to help Hyderabad post the highest Powerplay team score in T20 cricket (125).

Shahbaz (5), Klaasen (2), Nitish Reddy (2) and Samad (1) continued the onslaught to smash 22 sixes in the innings.

Team Bengaluru features next in the list for the most sixes in an innings in the Indian T20 League.

Led by captain Virat Kohli, Bengalru slammed 21 sixes against now-defunct Team Pune during an Indian T20 League match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in 2013.

Bengaluru opener Chris Gayle hammered 175 not out off just 66 balls to help the hosts post 263/5 in their 20 overs.

Gayle’s magnificent knock included 17 sixes to record for most sixes in an innings in T20. The West Indies cricketer later broke the record after he slammed 18 sixes during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2017 final between Rangpur Riders and Dhaka Dynamite.

Apart from Gayle, AB de Villiers smacked three sixes while Kohli hit one maximum to register 21 sixes in the innings.
