During an Indian T20 League clash at Wankhede in 2021, Chennai all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scripted history as he slammed 37 runs against Bengaluru pacer Harshal Patel in their final over of their innings.

In international cricket, the Indian cricket team scored the most runs in the 20th over in T20s.

Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh combined to accumulate 36 runs off pacer

Chennai rode on Ravindra Jadeja’s blitzkrieg to etch their name in the history books for most runs in 20th over in T20 cricket. Batting on 26 off 21 balls at the end of the 19th over, Jadeja then clobbered Bangalore pacer Harshal Patel for four consecutive sixes, including one maximum off a no-ball in the third delivery. The star all-rounder later added two runs off the fourth ball before hammering another six and a four to slam 37 runs in the final over off their innings to power Chennai to 191/4 in their allotted overs. In reply, Bangalore could only manage 122/9 in their 20 overs as Chennai won the game by 69 runs.

India vs Afghanistan | Bengaluru, 2024

The Indian cricket team recorded the most runs in the 20th over in T20 international cricket. The Rohit Sharma-led hosts hammered 36 runs in the 20th over during the third T20I of Afghanistan’s tour of India in 2024. With two set batters in Rohit Sharma (104*) and Rinku Singh (51*) at the crease, India took full advantage in the final over. Having faced young Afghan pacer Karim Janat, Rohit started the over with a four and later clobbered a six off a no-ball. The Indian captain then smashed another six to record his highest T20I score before taking a single. With Rinku on strike, the southpaw hit three consecutive sixes to help accumulate 36 runs in the 20th over. While India finished with 212/4, the Afghan batters scored 212/6 in reply. The hosts won the game in the second Super Over.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs Barbados Royals | Basseterre, 2023

CPL outfit St Kitts and Nevis Patriots feature third on the list for the most runs in 20th over in T20 cricket. During a Caribbean Premier League encounter in 2023, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots slammed 34 runs in the 20th over against Barbados Royals at Warner Park in Basseterre. Patriots’ lower-order batters Dominic Drakes and Corbin Bosch combined to score 34 runs in the final over of their innings. Both players took young pacer Nyeem Young to the cleaners in the 20th over. While Nyeem Young started his over with a wide, he was hammered for a six by Drakes in his next delivery. Young then bowled a no-ball as Drakes took a single. Bosch then proceeded to hammer one four and a maximum. Young bounced back to bowl a dot ball, however, in the fifth ball, Bosch clobbered another six. Young continued to struggle as he bowled a wide and later conceded a six off a no-ball. Bosch managed a single in the final over to power the Patriots to 197/6. However, the Royals chased down the target in 18.3 overs to win the game by six wickets.
