Most runs in Bangladesh Premier League 2023: Najmul Hossain Shanto tops charts

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is the premier franchise T20 competition in Bangladesh, featuring international stars like Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Rizwan and Tamim Iqbal among others. Over the years, batters have decorated the tournament with their flamboyant performances.

Sylhet Strikers’ Towhid Hridoy and Najmul Hossain Shanto lead the list of players with the most runs in the Bangladesh Premier League 2023. 

Hridoy, the 22-year-old top-order batter, has been in excellent form in BPL 2023. He has scored multiple fifties with a top score of 85* against Rangpur Riders. Meanwhile, Shanto, who averaged around 37, is right on the coattails of the Strikers' batter.

Tamim Iqbal, the leading run-scorer in Bangladesh Premier League history, also features in the top 10 players with the most runs in BPL 2023. After a sluggish start, Tamim picked up the pace, smashing two fifties in a six-match span. The 95-run knock from 61 balls against Comilla Victorians was his best performance 

On the other hand, Shakib Al Hasan, who has picked the most wickets in BPL, was impressive with the bat for Fortune Barishal. The left-handed batter’s performances kept him in the mix to top the run-scoring charts. The veteran all-rounder is also among the top six hitters in BPL 2023.

Pakistan’s Iftikhar Ahmed has been one of the most prolific overseas batters in BPL 2023. He was the third centurion in the 2023 season, scoring an unbeaten 45-ball 100 in a match-winning performance against Rangpur Riders. Iftikhar was the glue in the Fortune Barishal middle-order. 

Fellow countryman Mohammad Rizwan has been at the peak of his run-scoring powers too, leading the charts for the Comilla Victorians. While Rizwan did not smash a hundred, he slammed multiple fifties, while maintaining a 50-plus average.

Meanwhile, Azam Khan, Johnson Charles and Usman Khan were the other century-makers. Here’s a look at the top run-scorers in BPL 2023.
