Former Sri Lankan all-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya holds the record for most ducks in ODIs.
Considered one of the greatest attacking batsmen of all time, Jayasuriya registered 34 ducks in the entirety of his 22-year ODI career that began in 1989.
Shahid Afridi, who holds the record for most sixes in ODIs, is second on the list of most ducks in ODIs. The legendary Pakistan all-rounder was dismissed for zero on 30 occasions in 398 matches between 1996 and 2015.
Afridi is followed by another Pakistani great in Wasim Akram. Known as the Sultan of Swing, Akram, whose highest ODI score (86 runs) came against Australia in 1990, was dismissed for a duck 28 times in ODIs.
Mahela Jayawardene shares the record of most ducks in ODIs with Wasim Akram. The former Sri Lanka captain was bowled out for a duck on 28 occasions in his record-laden career that spanned over 448 matches between 1998 and 2015.
Lasith Malinga, who retired from ODI cricket in September 2021, is the next player on the list of most ducks in ODIs with 26 ducks. Interestingly, the pace legend is among the five players who have registered the most consecutive ducks in ODIs - four - from July 2014 to February 2015.

Sachin Tendulkar, who has the most runs in ODIs, is, unfortunately, the record holder of most ducks in ODIs by an Indian cricketer. The ‘Master Blaster’ was bowled out for a duck on 20 occasions in a legendary ODI career that began in 1989 and ended in 2012.
Javagal Srinath (19) and Anil Kumble (18) are the next Indian cricketers who registered the most ducks in ODIs. The cornerstones of India’s bowling in the 1990s, the pair struggled with the bat during their limited-overs careers.
Yuvraj Singh, the undisputed hero of India’s 2011 World Cup triumph, is fourth on the list of most ducks in ODIs by an Indian cricketer. The southpaw, who played 304 matches between 2000 and 2017, was dismissed 18 times in his ODI career.
Harbhajan Singh completes the top five list of most ducks in ODIs by an Indian cricketer. The spinner, known for some rare crucial knocks in the lower order, has 17 ducks in ODI cricket and played his last 50-overs match in 2015.
Virat Kohli, who ended his spell as India’s captain in December 2021, fell to his 14th duck in the second ODI against South Africa. His five-ball duck meant Kohli went past his India teammate Rohit Sharma and current India head coach Rahul Dravid in the list of most ducks in ODIs by an Indian cricketer (13). The batting superstar, however, matched the figures attained by Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina.
