Master Blaster in Cricket
At the age of 16 years and 205 days, Tendulkar became the youngest player to debut for India in Test cricket against Pakistan in Karachi in November 1989. He later also became the youngest cricketer to debut for India in ODI cricket at the age of 16 years and 238 days.
Tendulkar finished his legendary career with the most runs in international cricket. The Maharashtra-born cricketer amassed 34,357 runs for India across all formats. He is still the only cricketer to accumulate more than 30,000 runs at the highest level of the game.
The Master Blaster also holds the record for the most runs in Test cricket history. Between 1989 and 2013, Tendulkar scored 15,921 runs in 200 Test matches. He is still the only cricketer to breach the 15000-run mark in cricket’s longest format.
Tendulkar also dominated the one-day international (ODIs) format in the 1990s and 2000s.
The swashbuckling right-handed batter aggregated 18,426 runs in 463 ODIs - the most by any cricketer in ODI format till date.
He is also the only cricketer to slam 100 centuries in international cricket, 51 tons in Tests and 49 hundreds in ODIs.
Tendulkar also holds the record for the longest ODI career, which lasted 22 years and 91 days.
In the twilight of his international career, he helped the Indian cricket team clinch the 2011 ODI Cricket World Cup held in the sub-continent.
He also won the prestigious Indian T20 League title with Team Mumbai in 2013 before calling it a day in the format.
