Czech Republic currently hold the record for the largest margin of victory by runs in T20 international cricket.
During a Continental Cup match in Ilfov County, Romania in 2019, Czech Republic thrashed Turkey by 257 runs to record the biggest win in T20I cricket in terms of runs.
Opting to bat first, Sudesh Wickramasekara’s unbeaten 104 runs off just 36 balls and Sumit Pokhriyal’s 52-ball 79 powered Czech Republic to a mammoth score of 278/4 in their allotted 20 overs, registering the second highest total in T20I cricket.
Later, Czech Republic bundled out Turkey for 21 in 8.3 overs, which is currently the lowest total in T20I cricket. Mehmat Sert top-scored for Turkey with 12 runs off 11 balls. Interestingly, as many as eight batters were dismissed for a duck.
India recently joined the list by registering their biggest win in T20Is. After scoring 234/4 in 20 overs, they bowled out New Zealand for 66 runs, thus registering a 168-run win.
Canada hold the record for the second largest margin of victory by runs in T20Is. Canada hammered Panama by 208 runs during an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Region Qualifier encounter at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua and Barbuda.
Electing to bat first, Canada rode on opening batter Rayyan Pathan’s unbeaten 107 off 62 balls, along with contributions from captain Navneet Dhaliwal (65 off 36 balls) and Hamza Tariq (25-ball 55), to post 245/1 in their 20 overs.
In response, Panama were skittled out for 37 in 17.2 overs as Canada recorded a massive 208-run victory.
Tanzania features third on the list. During Tanzania’s tour of Rwanda 2021-22, Tanzania steamrolled Cameroon by 178 runs in the eighth match of the series.
After Tanzania won the toss and opted to bat first, Kassim Nassoro’s 19-ball 59 along with cameos from captain Abhik Patwa (36), Arshan Jasani (36) and Ivan Selemani (31) helped them post a huge total of 240/5 in their 20 overs. Later, Tanzania bowled out Cameroon for 62 in 16.2 overs to register the third biggest win in T20 internationals.
Romania and Sri Lanka complete the top five list. Romania thrashed Turkey by 173 runs during a Continental Cup match in Ilfov County in Romania in 2019.
Among full member nations, Sri Lanka own the record for the largest margin of victory by runs in T20Is. Sri Lanka hammered Kenya by 172 runs in a T20 match in 2007.
Pakistan are the second member nation to feature on the list. The Men in Green hammered Hong Kong by 155 runs during an Asia Cup match at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium in 2022.
