Established in 2010, JSCA International Stadium Complex, previously known as the Jharkhand State Cricket Association International Cricket Stadium, is a world-class cricket stadium located in Ranchi.
The stadium hosted its first international match in 2013, a One-Day International (ODI) between India and England. Since then, the venue has staged two Tests, five ODIs and two T20Is. It has also hosted many Indian T20 League matches.
Currently, the stadium has a seating capacity of around 50,000 and features an Indoor Cricket centre comprising three pitches.
JSCA International Stadium Complex is the home ground of the Jharkhand cricket team and has hosted several domestic T20 matches over the last decade. Here, we look at the T20I and T20 League records made at this venue.
JSCA International Stadium Complex T20I records
Highest team total: In T20I cricket, the Indian cricket team holds the record for registering the highest team score against Sri Lanka in the shortest format at JSCA International Stadium Complex in 2016. Put into bat, India rode on Shikhar Dhawan’s 25-ball 51 and Rohit Sharma’s 43 off 36 balls to post 196/6 in their quota of 20 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka could only manage 127/9 as the hosts secured a 69-run win.
Lowest team total: Australia were restricted to 118/8 by India in a rain-hit match in 2017, which is the lowest team total in T20Is at this venue. The Australian innings was declared complete in 18.4 overs after the rain gods played spoilsport. India won the match by nine wickets via the D/L method.
Highest individual score: India’s swashbuckling opener KL Rahul scored the highest individual score against New Zealand at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in T20I cricket. Rahul smashed 65 off 49 balls, hitting six fours and two maximums, in November 2021.
Best bowling figures: India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin holds the record for the best bowling figures at this stadium in T20Is. Ashwin has the best bowling figures of 3/14 against Sri Lanka at this venue in 2016.
Highest partnership: India’s KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma forged a 117-run opening partnership against New Zealand, which is the highest partnership at JSCA International Stadium Complex in international cricket.
JSCA International Stadium Complex T20 records
Most runs: Team Chennai’s middle-order batter Suresh Raina has scored the most runs at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in T20s. The southpaw amassed 283 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 138.73 with two fifties to his name at this venue.
Most wickets: Ravindra Jadeja has picked the most wickets at this venue in T20s. The left-arm spinner has bagged 13 wickets in nine matches at an economy of 7.99.
Highest team total: Chennai registered 202/4 against Hyderabad in 2013, which is the highest team total at JSCA International Stadium Complex in the T20 matches. Chennai rode on Suresh Raina's 57-ball 84 to set up a match-winning total.
Lowest team total: Assam were restricted to 77 by Odisha in 2018. It is the lowest team score in T20s. Tripura's 107 and Brisbane Heat's 110 are the second and third-lowest scores, respectively.
Best bowling figures: Ravindra Jadeja’s 4 for 12 for Team Chennai against Kolkata in 2014 is the best bowling figures by anyone at this venue in T20s. The swashbuckling all-rounder had scored a 10-ball 17 in the first innings to help Chennai post 148 in the first innings and then accounted for four scalps in the second to cap off a Player of the Match performance.
Highest individual score: David Warner smashed a 45-ball 90 at the venue for Team Hyderabad against Chennai in the 2014 edition of the Indian T20 League. Set a daunting target of 186 to chase, Warner starred with his 90 at the top of the order to help Hyderabad win the match with six wickets and two balls to spare.
