The 15th edition of the Indian T20 League started on March 26, 2021. 10 teams compete in the country’s premier T20 cricket competition, with the top four spots in the Indian T20 League points table a primary target for all franchises as they will battle to win the prestigious title.
How does the Indian T20 League points table work?
A total of 74 matches (70 league games + four playoffs) will be played over the course of the Indian T20 League 2022 campaign - across four venues in Mumbai and Pune. The top four teams from the league stages will qualify for the playoffs.
Each team will play a total of 14 matches in the league phase of Indian T20 League 2022. They will face the other four teams in their respective group two times, four teams in the other group once, and the other remaining team twice. Their results will dictate what they earn:
- Win: 2 points
- Abandoned / No Result: 1 point
- Loss: 0 points
The final position of a team in the standings will be determined by their tally of points during the league stage games.
If one or more teams are level on points, the position in the standings will be decided by the most number of wins. If a tie persists, the net run rate will be considered.
