On June 20, 2019, Uganda women scripted history as they registered the highest score in women’s T20 cricket against Mali women in a Kwibuka tournament match in Rwanda.

Electing to bat first, Uganda women rode on opener Prosscovia Alako’s 116 off 71 balls and skipper Rita Musamali’s unbeaten 61-ball 103 to post a mammoth total of 314/2 in their quota of 20 overs.

In reply, Mali women were bundled out for just 10 runs in 11.1 overs as they suffered a humiliating 304-run defeat in the game. As many as six batters were dismissed for a duck.

Interestingly, 314/2 is still the highest total in cricket’s shortest format in both men’s and women’s cricket.

Two days later in the same tournament, Tanzania women recorded the second-highest score in women’s T20 cricket against Mali women.

Tanzania captain Fatuma Kibasu smashed a scintillating ton (108 off 71 balls) to power her side to a massive total of 285/1.

Mali women continued their dismal run with the bat as they were bowled out for just 17 runs. Tanzania women won the encounter by 268 runs.

Among Test-playing nations, Bangladesh women have the highest score in women’s T20 cricket, registering 255/2 against Maldives women in the South Asian Games 2019. It is the fourth-highest score in women’s T20 cricket.

In 2018, England women created history as they posted 250/3 against South Africa women in a tri-nation series game in Taunton, which was the highest score in women’s T20 cricket at that time.

The hosts registered a 121-run victory after restricting South Africa women to 129/6.
