Harbhajan Singh is one of the most prolific spinners in India. Despite his best years behind him, he is still a potent off-spinner at 41, plying his trade in the Indian T20 League for Kolkata at the moment.
One of the finest off-spinners in white-ball cricket, ‘The Turbanator’ started his international career back in 1998 and soon became a major force with his wily off-spin. He was part of the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007 and played a significant role in India’s historic World Cup triumph in 2011. However, the emergence of Ravichandran Ashwin meant Harbhajan eventually lost his place in the Indian side.
Indian T20 League career
In over a decade-long career in the Indian T20 League, Harbhajan Singh has played for various franchises. The Jalandhar-born spinner first started his career with Mumbai and spent 10 seasons with the five-time champions. Between 2008-2017, Harbhajan picked 127 wickets at an economy of 6.96 for Mumbai. He played for Chennai in the next three editions and despite his underwhelming performances was snapped by Kolkata in the 2021 player auction of the Indian T20 League owing to his vast experience in the format.
Harbhajan Singh is currently the third-best spinner in the Indian T20 League with 150 wickets in 163 matches at an economy of 7.07. Over the years, he has troubled some of the finest players across the world and despite his age is still a great bowler at his craft.
