Australian cricket legend and SportsAdda brand ambassador Brett Lee is just as excited as the rest of the world, as the new season of the Indian Premier League is set to commence on Saturday, September 19.
The change in venue of the tournament to the UAE could swing the tide in any team’s favour. Lee believes defending champions Mumbai will be the favourites to win the title, however, he personally has chosen Chennai to win their second title in three years and join Mumbai as the most successful team in Indian T20 League history.
Despite the absence of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh, Binga reckons the Chennai have all it takes to go the distance in the tournament.
The three-time champions have a tremendous roster, which is conducive to the spin-friendly conditions in the UAE. In South African spinner Imran Tahir and Indian trio standout all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, Karn Sharma and Piyush Chawla, one of the highest wicket-takers in the history of the Indian T20 League.
In Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur, Chennai boasts of two pacers that can really take advantage of the slow conditions in UAE and in Dwayne Bravo, the leader of the bowling unit, Chennai have a player who is the highest wicket-taker in the history of T20s with over 500 wickets.
At the top of the batting order, Chennai have the vastly experienced Shane Watson, Faf Du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu, who may not be the most-renowned hitter in the format but are extremely reliable and excellent players of spin.
In the middle order, captain MS Dhoni, who had a tremendous year last season will be the glue that holds the side together. English all-rounder Sam Curran is a tremendous addition to the roster, while Jadeja, Kedar Jadhav and Bravo are extremely capable and reliable with the bat
Chennai's other overseas options include Kiwi Mitchell Santner, Australian Josh Hazlewood and South African speedster Lungi Ngidi, a versatile and talented bunch.
