The Asia Cup 2023 schedule has been announced with the highly-anticipated India vs Pakistan match to be played in Kandy, Sri Lanka on September 2.
Co-hosts Pakistan will lock horns with Nepal in the opening match of Asia Cup 2023 in Multan on August 30.
Defending champions Sri Lanka will host Bangladesh in their Asia Cup 2023 opener in Kandy on August 31.
Organised by the Asian Cricket Council, a total of 13 matches will be played in a hybrid model. Four matches are scheduled to be hosted in Pakistan, while the remaining nine matches will be played in Sri Lanka.
Multan and Lahore will host Asia Cup 2023 matches in Pakistan, whereas Kandy and Colombo have been selected as the two venues in Sri Lanka for the upcoming Asia Cup cricket tournament.
The Asia Cup 2023 final will be hosted at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on September 17.
The 16th edition of Asia Cup cricket tournament will see six teams compete for the upcoming 50-over continental championship.
Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Nepal are the six teams that will feature in Asia Cup 2023.
As per the format, these six teams have been divided into two groups of three teams each.
Group A includes Pakistan, India and Nepal, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are placed in Group B.
Two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage after the group stage encounters. The top two teams in the Super Four stage will clash in the Asia Cup 2023 final on September 17.
Sri Lanka are the reigning champions of Asia Cup cricket tournament albeit in the 20-over format, having defeated Pakistan by 23 runs in the 2022 final at the Dubai International Stadium.
